Packaging Industry Adapts to New Regulations and Consumer Demands

The packaging industry is today characterized by a relatively high rate of change due to the emergence of new rules on packaging and changes in customer attitudes. According to new polls, more than half of American voters stand for legal proceedings against the plastics and oil industries for alleged deception on the efficiency of recycling.

This is evidenced by legislation-making in the different parts of the world. For example, the US state of Illinois recently has put into law the Small Single-Use Plastic Bottle Act, which will bar hotels from offering small, single-use plastic bottles of personal care products starting from summer of the following year.

Such changes in regulation are making packaging manufacturers and brands to step up with efforts to becoming sustainable. In Europe today, the forthcoming PPWR regulation is preparing brands and manufacturers to adapt and add new changes in the packaging material field.

Such industries as klöckner pentaplast (kp) are now gearing up for the next sustainable high-performance product launch in events such as FachPack 2024. All of these prove that there is a huge potential for sustainable packaging using plastics if product designers and manufacturers apply a circular economy approach in creating the packaging products.

is more of the similar manner it has been reinforced that the industry is also experiencing increased use of other material. Chinese researchers have developed a method of converting bamboo into biodegradable and high-strength material substituting conventional plastics which are creating ecological problems in the modern world.

Coping with the changes in the laws packaging companies are focusing on innovation in order to design the packaging that is compliant with the legislation and eco-friendly by the clients’ perception.
